On July 10, 2026, the Tokushinkai Study Group (TSG) held a periodontal surgery training session at the Tokushinkai Quartz Tower.

Tokushinkai Study Group is a training course launched in 2024 with the aim of further improving the skills of medical staff and increasing patient satisfaction.
This training will be taught by a team of lecturers led by Dr. Kuribayashi Yutaro, Head of Medical Department, and is open to dentists from all over the country who are members of the Tokushinkai Group.

This time, we invited Professor Joichiro Hayashi from the Department of Periodontology, Oral Biology and Regenerative Medicine, Meikai University School of Dentistry, to give a lecture and practical session on "alveolar ridge preservation," which protects the jawbone after tooth extraction, and "alveolar ridge augmentation," which adjusts the thickness and height of lost bone and gums.

"Alveolar ridge preservation" is a technique that minimizes bone and gum loss through treatment immediately after tooth extraction. By maintaining the shape of the extracted area using bone graft material or a special protective membrane, it is possible to avoid major bone grafting surgery during implant treatment and other procedures, enabling minimally invasive treatment that reduces the burden on the patient.
Alveolar ridge augmentation is a technique that regenerates bone and gum tissue that has already deteriorated. By restoring gum volume through tissue grafting and other methods, it makes implants and crowns look more aesthetically pleasing and healthy.
For these surgical procedures, the morning session consisted of a lecture explaining the theory, followed by hands-on practice in the afternoon.

Our group will continue to strive to provide high-quality dental care that minimizes the burden on patients and takes both aesthetics and function into consideration, through training provided by experts in each field.
