Lecture by former Kumamoto Prefecture Governor, Ikuo Kabashima

January 30, 2026

On January 28th at Matsumura Dental Niitsu Clinic and on January 30th at Aoba Daini Dental Clinic, we invited Dr. Ikuo Kabashima, former governor of Kumamoto Prefecture, to give lectures on the theme of "Unlimited Dreams - Making the Impossible Possible."

He talked about his story from his childhood, which was by no means wealthy, to his time studying abroad and becoming a university professor before becoming Governor of Kumamoto Prefecture, and about his 4 years as governor over four terms, during which he pursued his "dream" of "maximizing the total happiness of the prefecture's residents."

Regarding prefectural administration, he explained the administration from three perspectives: "politics of decision," in which he publicly declared and carried out solutions within six months for issues such as fiscal reconstruction and dam construction; "politics of goals," in which he increased the happiness of the prefecture's residents by approaching them through Kumamon; and "politics of response," which involved rapid response to natural disasters and creative reconstruction, and the attraction of TSMC.

Professor Kamashima has always overcome the adversity he has faced and used his dreams as his driving force to make the impossible possible. This was a very valuable lecture that gave us the courage to take a step towards our dreams.
