December 2024, 10

On October 10th, we invited former Kumamoto Prefecture Governor, Mr. Ikuo Kabashima, to Tokushinkai Quartz Tower to give a lecture on political science.
From a political science perspective, Professor Kamashima gave us a commentary on the recent House of Representatives election and his 4 years in power as president of Kumamoto Prefecture over four terms.

Professor Kamashima explained prefectural government from three perspectives: "the politics of decisions," "the politics of goals," and "the politics of response."

"Decisive politics" in which the government publicly declared and carried out measures to resolve issues such as fiscal reconstruction, Minamata disease, and the Kawabegawa Dam within six months.
"Politics with a goal" aims to maximize the total happiness of the prefecture's residents, and has successfully implemented an approach using Kumamon.
Regarding the rapid response and creative recovery from the double whammy of the earthquake and torrential rains, and the "politics of response" leading up to the attraction of TSMC,
He explained in detail the theory and thinking behind it.

Professor Kabashima studied political science after moving to the United States, and after graduating from Harvard University Graduate School, he has been researching political science for many years as a professor at the University of Tsukuba and the Faculty of Law at the University of Tokyo. Professor Kabashima has successfully put his knowledge into practice during his 4 years in the prefectural government over four terms, and this was a very valuable lecture that provided us with an opportunity to learn about work and organizational management.
