Starting in May 2023, Radio Nikkei 5 will broadcast "Radio Itto Juku," hosted by Tokushinkai Group Chairman Matsumura. The theme of "Itto Juku," which the Tokushinkai Group has been hosting since 1, is "Learning from pioneers who illuminated the dark night with the light of their convictions." This radio program invites guests to learn about how to live and think as a leader from pioneers active in various fields.

The guest for this discussion is Mr. Ikuo Kabashima, former Governor of Kumamoto Prefecture.
Former Governor Kamashima also gave a speech at the "Ichito Juku" event, from which this column is based. Under the theme of "Dreams lie in adversity," he shared stories of how he overcame numerous setbacks to revitalize the Kumamoto prefectural government.

At the beginning of the interview, Mr. Ikeda shared his thoughts on finishing his four-term, 4-year term as governor in April of this year, the longest in the history of Kumamoto prefecture government.

He then talks about his childhood, his time as a student (not exactly the best), his path to employment, his agricultural training overseas, his entry into university and his appointment as a professor, and other stories from before he became governor, including his achievements as governor, and his outlook and aspirations for the future.
